π Reference Point Guide
Rugby Field Reference Points
Points are named by their position on the field:
π² Corners
corner_top_left, corner_top_right, etc. - The 4 corners of the field
π Try Lines
Goal lines at each end (left/right refers to which end)
π 22m Lines
22 meters from each try line
π 10m Lines
10 meters from halfway line
π 5m Lines
5m lineout lines (5m inside from touchlines) - Often visible when touchline is off-screen!
π 15m Lines
15m from touchlines (lineout throwing distance)
β Halfway
The center line of the field
Position naming:
β’ top/bottom = upper/lower touchline (sideline)
β’ center = middle of the field
β’ left/right = which end of the field
How to Calibrate
- Select a video and find a frame with 4+ visible markings
- Click a reference point in the grid to select it
- Click on the video where that marking appears
- Repeat until you have 4+ points on the same frame
- Click Compute Homographies
- Click Propagate to extend to all frames
- Save your calibration as a version
